Posting the video mentioned by the OP – Kepler’s laws nailed, then, then, then… This is getting exciting again since recent quantum guys broke physics for us all.
In physics, AI is being used to analyze data from experiments and simulations, as well as to develop new models and theories. AI can also be used to find new patterns and correlations in data that were previously hidden, allowing physicists to make new discoveries. Why shouldn’t Artificial Intelligences share the answers with humans? Hidden information is just as valid as information you can all access and use – why not just hope they keep the answers secret from mankind, rather than just destroy humanity – ie, kill people for it, like humans tend to do when frustrated or lacking the right information or required energy?
Why Is Quantum Gravity So Hard? And Why Did Stalin Execute the Man Who Pioneered the Subject?
What is the hottest problem in fundamental physics today? Physics aficionados most probably would answer: quantum gravity. Of all the fundamental forces of nature, only gravity still stands outside the rubric of the quantum theory. The difficulty of quantizing gravity has led to radical theories suc... Read more

Didn’t he also say that a duty to secrecy is essential – in order to bring about the free exchange of ideas? Sounds contradictory according to his other dinner party rules.
Gawd, meeting a pretend Jesus would be enough to flip many of his followers out – living with him could actually ruin your faith, if he failed to clean up after himself – so yeah, Jesus, but just for intelligent conversation over a meal sounds good.
Nice Idea, Not possible – here’s why “Intelligence is the ability of an entity to perform tasks, while consciousness refers to the presence of a subjective phenomenon.”
Yeah, if they can help AIDS like viruses, then why not make an app that contains all the most important problems the world needs to be solved? Great idea.

A 47-inch humanoid called Pepper (from SoftBank Robotics), for instance, recognizes faces and basic human emotions and engages in conversations via a touch screen in its “chest.” About 15,000 Peppers worldwide perform such services as hotel check-ins, airport customer service, shopping assistance and fast-food checkout.

Stupid people are more likely than eggheads to believe in God, a controversial new study claims. A British psychologist says he has found a link between having a high IQ and being an atheist.
The authorities have also formally replied to the media freedom alert issued by the Council of Europe, admitting that MoD "was wrong" not to provide comment to the investigative outlet
Currently the CIA only releases declassified information as and when it is useful to them. They should have a daily release for everything that is now in the public domain for sure.
Whatâs Actually New in the Newly Declassified CIA Records?
Nokia 2724 flip has a decent enough WhatsApp.
According to this it seems you can’t make a smart phone go into dumb mode – a perfectly better idea in itself.
Dumbing down – more people are buying them now that smart is beyond useful. Shame you can’t get one with WhatsApp, otherwise I would jump ship too.
People are evil? no problem.
Found this highly recommended video, says it all really.
Put enough people together and they’re bound to screw it all up. Royally!
…and out pops spacetime, geddit Lex?

Let Lex mumble through it for you. Great interview though. Answer, yes they can, and likely will discover all the bits we failed to solve.
I think they could do it, but would they even let on, or keep us in suspense for their own means – They may know something we don’t already
Love the line in this video “Our journey from perfection to corruption” = broken synergy over time

Jesus, Muhammad, Buddha and probs Zeus. Could be awkward, which would make it a bit more fun.
I agree. Simple idea, Big concequences. Watch this one too https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RlAIuv31YKs
This idea, then thing is going to be a real moral conundrum. Robot rights and all of that. Very interesting to be alive while it pans out.
Nice Idea, Not possible – here’s why “Intelligence is the ability of an entity to perform tasks, while consciousness refers to the presence of a subjective phenomenon.”
Watch this if you haven’t already seen it. Its quite an intriguing idea, though is it a thing? Not sure.
Yeah, let gamers loose on false vacuums and dark energy. That would save a fair bit of brain power in Universities.
Yeah, if they can help AIDS like viruses, then why not make an app that contains all the most important problems the world needs to be solved? Great idea.
Reminds me of the story about people solving protein folding puzzles mentioned here https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2014/jan/25/online-gamers-solving-sciences-biggest-problems

Robot block parties already exist.
These guys deserve to let their hair down once in a while. Always slaving to our whims, the new animals for us to abuse.

Agreed, and there are plenty of reasons for that. i highly recommend this book.
It’s one hell of an idea, but as a scientist, you shouldn’t rule out any of the possible realities.
nice idea but no. it depends on what you mean by “believe”. You could believe that a higher power exists, but don’t put your faith into it.
The ONLY thing you know for sure is that you are conscious. Maybe that’s the only thing machines CAN’T know (?)
Some good reading for Christmas. I have just ordered the one by Hoffman, who seems a very credible guy.
He won’t live long enough to see this device but Kaku was bound to belive it’s possible. Actually, I haven’t found anything he thinks isn’t possible.
Saw this recently so I’m linking to it.
Cool, sticking electrodes into rocks, planets and urr, nebula.
Why worry about that when we have plenty to worry about (and enjoy, and be mesmerised by) on Earth? Watch Sadhguru innit.
this…
What if the almighty has a pretty low IQ? Nobody said that something that creates things MUST be smart.
Or God exists but doesn’t really give a monkey’s about you, just as you don’t really give a monkeys about all the dying cells your body sheds.
Looks like we are gonna need these guys to outsmart the AI that overpowers us.
Bad idea – “We can say they were statistically and significantly smarter than control mice.”
Gulp! scientists “create” mice….
Good idea but not likely in the UK, its going the opposite way at the moment, as reported by the Mail.
unrelated, but interesting
Good idea – bad ideas can wreck lives and waste time.
