  1. Not sure if the Royal Mail would bother with the hassle of charging more for a standard priced stamp, but it would work if it was allowed to. A stamp could look something like the one here.

  2. More info on donating normal postage stamps here. https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/news/article-7526527/Stick-Stamps-want-raise-cash-charity.html

  3. Good idea. there is also this way charities can cash in on stamps – I didn’t realise it was done by weight though: “Stamps are sold by weight, meaning that many charities can turn old ones into funds to help their ongoing work. Simply cut the stamp off the envelope, making sure to leave approximately 1cm of envelope bordering the stamp, and post to the correct address.”

  4. Fortunately Save the Children still accept one-off donations in cash. It makes the others seem a little ungrateful knowing they only want to know if you set them up with a continuous stream of funding from your bank. How the world has changed. Donate to savey, as we used to call it back in the day when they were the only charity shop in town.

  5. True, but they should accept both or they will miss out on a huge stack of funding they need. I read this recently and it spells it out,

  6. “Cash donations peak in certain months of the year, for example, November and December, where 51% of people say they’ve given this way in the last four weeks. This compares to 42% in an average month across the year.”

Online Gambling sites for international children’s charities should be a thing. Who cares that you can’t do it in the US. The rest of the world spend heaps on online gambling and this money could go where it is needed. Some big charities should get together with online gambling sites and set one up, they are missing a trick and a stack of money they could have a nice slice of.

Nice idea, I wonder why these are not a thing. You can hire a Casino in Las Vagas, but something tells me, they get to keep all the money that comes into the machines. Someone like Musk, Bezos or Gates should set one up for irradiating children’s diseases, or a whole holiday park that collects money to solve the world’s problems. I would go to that rather than Disney.

  9. The health lottery is as close as you will get in the UK.Though its legal to do fun runs and bingo nights lol – doesn’t compare with the entire industry of casinos for private profit. The health lottery is a first step though I guess.

  10. Agreed, and global ones for places where kids don’t have food – to compensate giving to adults that don’t try hard enough to find money to feed their kids in well off countries, which shopping malls.

  11. Would need to be secure as Oxfam get scammed by people pretending to be them, someone could just change the number on a sign and sneak off with their donations.

  12. Steve Divnik invented the spiral waterless wishing well amonst other things. I am sure he would approve of this idea especially if your money landed in 1 of say, 4 different holes – which would share the money out between 4 good causes without one being the lucky one that got their wishing well placed in the shopping mall.

  13. Bless them the UK Rotary Club provide these to shopping centres and give the proceeds to charity, how commendable.

  14. Would be good if they gave some of the proceeds to local projects like Liam’s Lunches too.
