Reality is a trick of the mind
According to cognitive scientist Donald Hoffman – we don’t experience the world as it really is. We perceive what we need to perceive in order to make sense of the world.
In fact, everything we experience isn’t what it seems to be at all, it instead only reflects the underlying reality – similar to how icons on a computer desktop represent the underlying program, rather than give us access to the actual program’s coding – to ensure we don’t mess it up…
…and more importantly, so it doesn’t mess our heads up.

So what is real? This is blowing my mind a bit, love the idea of icons hiding the inner workings of the universe, so we don’t get tempted to tinker, or to urr, blow our minds further.
Interesting idea, and to be honest, hard to disprove.
