Metal detectors in surgery doors
A family member of mine died after surgeons left forceps in their body after an operation – surely this would alarm them to the mistake if it had x-ray pics to review before releasing a patient.

Good idea, but won’t catch all the sponges and tubes left in there – which is quite common according to this https://www.thoughtco.com/objects-left-inside-body-after-surgery-4061352
Heard a few nightmare stories about this – would save lives no doubt if they made them mandatory.
