Due to Google’s ranking factors, in order to get “high” in the search results, businesses need to go on the black market to buy shady links from other sites. For this reason, they have created a black market of dodgy link dealers – and this is making unscrupulous site hackers and the like very rich.
The irony is that Google preaches what is “immoral” marketing.

This is exactly why the got rid of their best employee Matt Cutts. Yep they turned linking into a crime. Now we have to go and meet shady types to get our fix in backstreets online.
