These exist already. Would look great with all my DVDs on the shelf. Better still is that you can have it over your window so as not to waste wall space.

There are a few multi-purpose trackers which I guess would work if they fit on your remote. But better might be to just have an app on your phone that works as a remote.
The tile app does this but you have to add a huge plastic thing to a flat area on your remote – better would be a tiny sticker with a chip in it. or better batteries that have a transmitter built in that you can find on your phone GPS.
