Convert Coal Power Plants to Hydrogen is a way of re-purposing existing infrastructure to quickly switch our existing electrical grids to renewable energy.
And here in California: “Hydrogen is the most abundant element in the universe, but just coming into its own as a versatile fuel for a world moving away from hydrocarbons. Capturing hydrogen is simple in theory: just apply a lot of energy to water to break the two H’s (hydrogen) from the O (oxygen) to create pure hydrogen. Like natural gas, that hydrogen contains heat that can be released with combustion to drive a generator. Unlike natural gas, that combustion is GHG-free.”
You say old coal plant, I say new green hydrogen facility | Greenbiz
Great idea and it is actually starting to happen! Escalante H2 Power states this will be the world’s first conversion from a large-scale CFPP to a large-scale blue/green hydrogen fired zero-emission power plant.
Retired New Mexico coal-fired plant to be repurposed to hydrogen
Tesla and a growing list of competitors in the electric vehicle market dominate debate over the future of cars and recharging networks, but there’s another kind of green transportation making inroads, based on the most abundant resource in the universe: hydrogen fuel cells.
Hydrogen is not currently considered a solution for large-scale transport of high payloads. But since legislation will require 20% of our production to be emission-free by 2030, hydrogen will play an important future role in the transportation industry.
cough… they call it “green hydrogen” (?) they should tell scientists that all of the elements now have colors.
Ohio too 😉 https://www.oceangeothermal.org/convert-coal-power-plants-to-hydrogen/

Everybody, meet Mike and his hydrogen house.
Not sure why Musk is against them though,,,, lol.
There seems to be 2 options, fuel for the engine or fuel to power the electric motor. Either would be better than dirty diesel.
Been waiting for this for years, not sure if it will happen though, despite there being plenty of free hydrogen about.
