  2. Britain-based Barclays (BARC.L) increased its bonus pool by 46% to 1.1 billion pounds ($1.5 billion), up from 749 million pounds a year earlier, while HSBC (HSBA.L) topped up its bonus pool by $900 million in the first half. Though the UK has nothing on the corrupt types in the US. Check this out from like 7 years ago. Not sure why there isn’t a list already somewhere(?)… https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/dec/02/forbes-list-fat-cats-have-more-money-than-all-regular-cat-owners-in-america

“The remuneration committees which decide pay packages are made up almost entirely of other directors. This creates a self-serving system in which one group of directors pays another exorbitant salaries, and these then act as the ‘competitive benchmark’ for the next round. In other words, it is the power of directors as a group to set their own salaries that determines their level and growth.”

  4. Theresa May had a handy list of them all for herself. Not sure how she planned to use the list though. Not to have them investigated I guess?

  5. This would be handy if the people on the list were also listed by the company they worked for. It should include everyone who earns more in a day than the rest of us do in a year. I don’t care how clever their business idea was, another person isn’t worth 365.25 of me. Read this from the BBC.

  7. Funny… “Mrs Blair went on to explain Mr Blair’s credentials for the prize.“Yes, he had one utterly disastrous intervention in Iraq that killed millions, destabilised the entire region and potentially paved the way for Daesh. We all understand that. “But think of the countries he didn’t invade.”

  8. Reminds me of this funny incident on question time, Trump and Blair would be the worst, after Bush.

  9. Tax Payer’s Alliance is under the impression that most Govt waste is due to “foreign aid”, totally unaware that “aid” means giving weapons to strategic partners, and NOT giving it to help destroyed communities find a way to get clean water and education for the innocent kids. This is a minor cost of ruling the world, thick as shit.

  10. Interesting idea. Looked this idea up and there are some legalities involved.

  11. Yeah, they should have to submit their spend before election is called in order to qualify – or be disqualified. Cheating shouldn’t be rewarded in this case, its too important.

“Likewise, if the Commission’s incorrect interpretation of the law effectively allowed the official Leave Campaign to spend more than the official Remain campaign, then Remainers have significant grounds for grievance.

At the centre of all of this sit the Electoral Commission, who do seem to have blundered. There have been some loud calls for a serious shake up there from both sides of this quarrel today, and I have some sympathy for that.”
