Had to google it – but was impressed with the thought that the sun does a figure of 8 when viewed same time each day – something I’m sure our ancestors discovered before assigning the symbol for infinity in mathematics.
The Sun’s position in the sky changes when looked at during the same time each day from the same location throughout the year. The diagram showing how the Sun changes its position in the sky throughout the year is known as an Analemma. There are two independent factors that affect the change in su... Read more
George Monbiot, a correspondent for Britain’s The Guardian newspaper and known for his environmental and political activism, has made a surprising call for people in the United Kingdom to cut the use of cars by 90 per cent over the next decade.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced April 15 it has awarded Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) and a private company w
This is worse when you think what it was like for all those kids who went to the cape to watch their fave teacher vaporized “for all mankind”. Yes, they should all keep in touch. Good idea.
If you belive the USSR hasn’t hidden any of their secret tragedies the “A total of 18 people have lost their lives either while in space or in preparation for a space mission, in four separate incidents. Given the risks involved in space flight, this number is surprisingly low. The two worst disasters both involved NASA’s space shuttle.”

Great idea. There are countless locals who know crafts and subjects and would only need a slot and a bit of help from a teacher to inspire new generations with old skills and activities. Setting up a club looks difficult though according to this link. Schools should join a scheme to attract volunteer teachers for one-off classes.
“And beware lest you raise your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun and the moon and the stars, all the host of heaven, you be drawn away and bow down to them and serve them, things that the Lord your God has allotted to all the peoples under the whole heaven” (Deuteronomy 4:19).
Should a Christian study astronomy? What does the Bible say?
Best online courses in Astronomy from University of Leeds, California Institute of Technology, University of Edinburgh, University of Arizona and other top universities around the world
why not both? and both together? Read the article I have linked to, it states that… “The Bible indicates in several places that the universe has been “stretched out” or expanded. For example, Isaiah 40:22 teaches that God stretches out the heavens like a curtain and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in. This would suggest that the universe has actually increased in size since its creation. God is stretching it out, causing it to expand.”
The Lord certainly understands how this universe works; after all, He made it. So His Word, the Bible, gives us the foundation for understanding the universe.
He retired to Cumbria empty-handed bless him. Though he coined the term BIG BANG by accident and thought it was a load of rubbish. Crawl back under your rock Hoyle, there’s nothing for you here!
As the winners of this year’s Nobel science prizes are about to be announced, Robin McKie looks back at the controversial life of groundbreaking scientist Fred Hoyle
I have read about these proposed magnetic shields. Not going to happen soon unless we can terraform other planets and use their minerals to engineer huge structures in the solar system.
Could a Magnetic Shield Protect Earth From Space Weather?
Gravitational lensing is an observed phenomenon. Can one have a gravitational mirror?
A slightly unrelated question: Can gravitational waves be reflected?

Me too – bless the Sun (God) for describing our symbol for “forever” right in front of our mortal eyes.
If space mining is ever realized, the wealth will likely benefit only a few rich people.
The amount of wealth to be found in asteroid mining could change the future of humanity.
It’s an excellent idea. It might even be the only option to save earth, as our natural resources might be depleted in a few decades.

Space organizations are already investing in bioprinting, and we might be closer to realizing to using the technology than we think.

It’s not just food, with traditional organ transplant being nearly impossible in space, bioprinting of human organs would be so beneficial.
3D-printed food has the potential to be one of the most critical technologies for deep space exploration.
so sad.

dropping this, heres how to do it, amazing idea, the applications are endless.
This? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6qs6L0shTg
wow. didn’t realise this was real, then googled it and they’ve gone and made a replica space station light show. amazing. watch this
plus vr universe gets naff reviews
Why do you need to sit in a ball, (without enough air) to do Universe in VR? There are a few good apps out there already.
Look at this though, in the UK after school clubs are seen as cheap childcare, rather than extra school activities. Shame, they could be so much more.

That’s quite a battle to fight. You could just teach your kids online. Loads of courses out there already.

Apparently, you need to have nice manners to get proper recognition now. Science needs to change. Read this article…
good point. good ideas get hidden by the ole boys club for sure, reminded me of this video from a while back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG0XVDiwrVE

True, we might fix the environment only for the sun to blast us anyways. Lots of risky crap out there coming our way to be honest.
Not a new idea but an interesting one. Been discussed on stack exchange / physics for a while, here is a thread.
Its possible to use gravity as a lens, they should be possible to use it as a mirror also. Nice idea.
there are a few options for this already. see https://www.skyatnightmagazine.com/top-astronomy-kit/best-gadgets-turn-smartphone-into-astrophotography-camera/
Wow, can’t believe these already exist and less than 50 pounds. Are they any good?
