Recharging elevators – the breaks save the wasted energy in batteries
Just as hybrid cars have regenerative braking (braking is resisted by a battery charger which in turn recharges the main battery) so too should elevators.

“Not only can today’s technologies cut elevators’ energy use, but they also can return energy to the building grid.”
Breaking is broken, from lifts to electric trains, cars to pushbikes, applying breaks is simply swapping useful energy for bad useless energy, ie entropy. So it goes!
Loving these magnetic elevators- that can go sideways too like a tube.
Not new, a but cool idea.
