Mental health issues can occur, but due to external factors such as forced abortion, abortion of wanted pregnancies, lack of support during the process, and stigma from society, and not abortion itself.
There are possible mental health issues that can occur after an abortion, but they are not widespread to every woman who gets an abortion. Check out this research article on the issue.
