Councils should encourage the “donation” areas people have inadvertently created next to street recycling bin areas
Humanity invented the idea without realising we needed it. Councils shouldn’t frown on people trying to allow others to reuse their unwanted furniture, books, etc etc.
Careful now! Councils threaten to fine people they think put things beside rather than in the bin.
Agree! Like pathways – people calve out new routes diagonally across grassy areas. the council should provide what it senses the people need, rather than give the people just what it offers. The signs are obvious if you look at our communities correctly.
A designated space next to big street bins would be good. People do it anyways, most don’t have cars or access to get bulky stuff to the recycling centre. For those who can’t you can always apply to have them pick it up. But then, people in your street won’t be able to take it off their hands before they arrive, which is a shame. This is where you apply for a collection.
