Idea: Rocket-propelled jetpacks for use in space

Rocket-propelled jetpacks for use in space could serve as a highly maneuverable personal mobility system for astronauts in microgravity environments, enabling quick, precise movement without relying on fixed handrails or bulky robotic arms. Unlike atmospheric jetpacks that use air for thrust, space versions would rely on compressed gas or small rocket thrusters—similar to NASA’s Manned Maneuvering Unit (MMU) or the more compact Simplified Aid for EVA Rescue (SAFER)

Until the 21st century, almost every jetpack was in fact a rocket pack.

Inventors like Richard Browning have been trying to build jetpacks for a century. Now they’re here, what do we do with them?

You can buy rocket powered jetpacks already – not sure how they would work in space as the brakes need to be added, heh.
