The water is good for industrial purposes but you don’t want to make communities rely on it as it lacks the minerals they get from regular water.

true, and the salty brine gets pumped back into the sea near the water intake. Not solved yet.

Nice idea but it’s not that simple, an estimated 76 million tons of CO2 are emitted annually as a result of desalination processes.
