A book is more durable than an empire
A single book outlived many empires, and likely will continue to do so. The ideas in the bible have already been digitised and will outlive the book format. So according to Jordan Peterson and others, ideas are fundamental.
All empires fall in time. So yeah, I like this idea. I don’t belive in God and unsure if Jesus was a real person but I am convinced that the Bible is a pretty special document. Hard to deny that. Shame people don’t bother with it because it has been abused by those wanting power over others for so long.
Dr Peterson mentions that idea briefly here. He is convinced and very passionate about the idea too. Can’t really fault it.
The fall of an empire—the end of a polity, a socioeconomic order, a dominant culture, or the intertwined whole—looks more like a cascading series of minor, individually unimportant failures than a dramatic ending that appears out of the blue.
Reminds me of the quote by Jung, “People don’t have ideas – ideas have people”, they will still be here when you are long gone. such is the beauty of information.
