one of the world’s best ideas – not sure who thought it up first but the thought of it inspired me to add the idea.

It may be on it’s way out in the UK. Shame, one of the US’s best ideas in my opinion. They won’t let it fade away without a real fight.
In the UK – You do not have to say anything. But, it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioned something which you later rely on in court. Anything you do say may be given in evidence.
