In an effort to persuade the Finnish government not to build a fifth nuclear reactor, hundreds of Finnish women declared that they will not bear children for four years unless the plan is scrapped. A similar protest was undertaken in 1986 after the Chernobyl disaster, and the Finnish government eventually backed down. The protesting women, who all signed a petition confirming their declaration, hoped that this protest will have the same effect.
Shame babies can’t refuse to be born somehow.
