The last two articles I’ve written for the blog were part of the Particle Physics series. Professor Max Tegmark almost predicted the last years of AI development. But he got one thing wrong, which undermines his argument about the dangers of AI.

A fun fact about sexy primes is that the name is a pun stemming from the Latin word for six, which is sex! In fact, unlike its predecessors, sexy primes come in what are known as constellations.

Trust physicists to make a simple concept difficult.
Such a weird concept, transforming something so it’s the same – not everything can do that. Great vid here btw.

I would go with Hoffman’s version – really it just seems to be a mathematical pattern as that’s all we are equipped to perceive.

Seems like you can host 2 contradictory ideas in societies, in words and in your own mind. Its a problem, yet not an issue 🙂
That single sentence contains two completely contradictory ideas.

It’s math’s Universe, it came first, before time, before matter, before consciousness and before ideas.
Read Roger Penrose for more on this idea. He is not ashamed to say the universe is made of these 3 things. Nothing Else.

This one too – about environmental problem solving, still interesting to physicists though. Highly recommended.
Here’s the book mentioned.
Ahh, the old spherical cow rears its ugly head – as mentioned in Ken Aizawa’s book; The Bounds of Cognition.
this explains it, I don’t think the OP really wants someone to make cows spherical. Just make physics easier to approximate.
So what is real? This is blowing my mind a bit, love the idea of icons hiding the inner workings of the universe, so we don’t get tempted to tinker, or to urr, blow our minds further.
Interesting idea, and to be honest, hard to disprove.
