This is 100% true. Politicians from developing countries are among the highest paid in the world despite scarce public resources, yet corruption is still rampant in these countries.
Paying politicians well does not lead to better governance. In fact, it might do the opposite.
Many politicians earn huge salaries, which come from the taxpayers’ pockets. Their salaries should be lowered, and the funds directed to other causes.
